Frequently asked questions

Let us show you how your product come to life.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

  • DTF Transfer: Ensure your transfer is ready and printed.
  • Garment: Pre-wash and dry your shirt to remove any sizing.
  • Heat Press: Set it up in a well-ventilated area.
  • Teflon Sheet or Parchment Paper: To protect the transfer and garment.
  • Heat-Resistant Tape (optional): To secure the transfer.

Step 2: Preheat the Heat Press

  • Set Temperature: Typically around 320°F (160°C), but check the transfer’s instructions for specifics.
  • Set Time: Usually about 15-20 seconds.
  • Pressure: Firm pressure is generally recommended.

Step 3: Prepare the Garment

  • Position the Garment: Place it on the heat press to ensure it’s smooth and wrinkle-free.
  • Pre-press the Garment: Close the heat press for about 5 seconds to eliminate moisture and wrinkles.

Step 4: Position the DTF Transfer

  • Place the Transfer: Position the DTF transfer (printed side down) where you want it on the garment.
  • Secure (if needed): Use heat-resistant tape to hold it in place.

Step 5: Press the Transfer

  • Close the Heat Press: Apply firm pressure and set the timer.
  • Press for Time: Wait for the designated time (15-20 seconds).

Step 6: Cool Down

  • Open the Press: Carefully lift the heat press.
  • Peel the Transfer: Depending on the transfer instructions, either peel the transfer hot or cold. Generally, DTF transfers are peeled cold.

Step 7: Final Press (optional)

  • Re-press the Transfer: For added durability, you can place a Teflon sheet over the transfer and press for an additional 5-10 seconds.

Step 8: Let it Cure

  • Allow to Cool: Let the garment cool completely before handling or washing.

Additional Tips

  • Test First: If it’s your first time, test on a scrap piece or similar fabric.
  • Follow Manufacturer’s Instructions: Always check the specific guidelines for your DTF transfers, as temperatures and times can vary.

By following these steps, you’ll achieve a professional-looking application with your DTF transfers!

Step 1: Wash Before Wearing

  • Pre-wash: If possible, wash the shirt before wearing it for the first time to remove any residual chemicals from the printing process.

Step 2: Turn Inside Out

  • Turn the shirt inside out: This helps protect the print during washing.

Step 3: Choose the Right Washing Settings

  • Gentle cycle: Use a gentle or delicate cycle on your washing machine.
  • Cold water: Always wash in cold water to preserve the print and fabric.

Step 4: Use Mild Detergent

  • Choose a mild detergent: Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the print.

Step 5: Avoid Fabric Softeners

  • Skip fabric softeners: They can interfere with the print’s adhesion.

Step 6: Air Dry

  • Air dry the shirt: Hang it to dry or lay it flat. Avoid using a dryer, as high heat can damage the print.

Step 7: Ironing (if needed)

  • Iron inside out: If you need to iron, turn the shirt inside out and use a low heat setting. Avoid direct contact with the print.

Step 8: Storage

  • Store properly: Keep the shirt in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Additional Tips

  • Avoid dry cleaning: This can damage the DTF print.
  • Limit exposure to heat: Avoid placing the shirt near heat sources, as this can warp the print.

By following these steps, you’ll help ensure your DTF shirts remain vibrant and last longer!

1. Cotton

  • 100% Cotton: Excellent adhesion and vibrant colors.
  • Cotton Blends: Works well with blends like cotton/polyester.

2. Polyester

  • 100% Polyester: Great for bright colors and durability.
  • Polyester Blends: Works well, but keep an eye on temperature to avoid scorching.

3. Cotton/Polyester Blends

  • Ideal for a wide range of applications, offering good results.

4. Canvas

  • Suitable for bags, shoes, and other items, providing a sturdy surface for transfers.

5. Rayon

  • Can work, but be cautious with the heat to avoid damage.

6. Nylon

  • Generally okay, but test a small area first, as nylon can be sensitive to heat.

7. Fleece

  • Great for sweatshirts and jackets; ensure even pressure and heat distribution.

8. Performance Fabrics

  • Moisture-wicking and athletic materials can be used, but verify compatibility first.

Important Considerations:

  • Test First: Always do a test press on a scrap piece if you’re unsure about a fabric.
  • Temperature Sensitivity: Some synthetic fabrics may require lower temperatures to avoid damage.
  • Fabric Care: Ensure that the fabric is clean, pre-washed, and free of any treatments that could affect adhesion.

By following these guidelines, you can successfully heat press DTF transfers onto various fabrics!
